I recently experienced an encounter with a simple rule enforcer - a dolt more interested in the power of the confrontation than thinking about why the rule exists and when it should be applied. He was someone more interested in enforcing a basic rule than asking why the rule exists, that is - what is its function or purpose, then deciding whether it should be applied. He was obviously seeking a kind of attention (it was a public space) and some power (like a simple police officer wishing to push around a lawyer and good looking athlete then trying to justify it on perverse grounds with a simple, mean and unsuccessful 'bargirl' as a witness).
